South Slocan

Yesterday we said goodbye to Christie and George Mentz who kindly let us stay with them at their place in South Slocan while we visited Cara and their son Jake in Nelson.

Christie and George recently moved to the Kootenays from St. Albert, just outside of Edmonton, where they had lived for many years and worked as teachers and school administrators.

Moves later in life can be difficult, for obvious reasons, but these two are making it look easy, filling their days with outdoor adventures, community service, and caring for their new home and garden. It was a pleasure to stay with them, and we hope a bit of their energy and enthusiasm rubbed off!

      Hi Tamara, this is where they’ve chosen to retire, so what you see is a beautiful, and growing, home garden. Such a welcoming place, and welcoming people!
