Cap Gaspe

Forillon National Park is a must see. The Gaspé is beautiful. So on our final day in the park…..

And fueled on a lovely cod dinner and a great sleep, we had lots of energy for a 14 km hike to Lands End the next morning. Recall from the last blog post, Pat’s photos of the tip of the peninsula. It is too steep to access from the north side but on the south side there is a hiking trail that criss crosses a road/bike trail that takes you to the lighthouse at Cap Gaspe. Along the way there are interesting viewpoints.

Viewpoint to the south
Lobster fishers
Dogwood covers the forest floor
After 8 km we reach the lighthouse
Fun fact- we are hiking on the Appalachian Trail
End of the world
Cormorants resting in the rock
View toward the Saint Lawrence

We took the more direct bike trail on the return. Back at the car cheese, pepperoni and crackers made a wonderful lunch. Love a well stocked cooler.

Between the trail head and our campsite were more park gems to explore. We spent the afternoon stopping off at: the beach, the restored Blanchette family homestead and Hyman General Store.

A whale watching tour to Cap Gaspe
Most awesome skipping stone beach
Or a short rest
Nice outhouse
Blanchette House

Two holers for big families.

That was quite a day! We celebrated with a feast of mussels back at camp. It was a perfect day. We are sad to leave Forillon but looking forward to the drive back along the Gaspe coast with a stop in Perce to see the famous rock.
