Our time in Nfld has been incredible. The West Coast has been as stunning as we expected. We’ve got a few precious days left before departing. What a whirlwind.
Today we are driving from the top of the west coast of Nfld heading to Corner Brook. A clear sunny morning turns into a grey and wet afternoon as we stop and charge in Gros Morne. Oh well.
We may be putting the tent up in some drizzle so we get our courage up. We have a nice dinner at Boomstick Brewing. The steak is amazing and the beer flight is fun. The name of the brewery pays homage to the sticks that hold log booms together. These booms float down the river to the Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Mill ( a Kruger mill).
The next morning we break camp, again in the drizzle.
We tackle two hikes. First the James Cook Heritage Trail. The views are lovely with the fog for effect.

Speaking of James Cook – this fellow was everywhere. He mapped Nfld. Recently his map was compared to a recently updated version and the Nfld govt wondered why they spent the money on the update as Cook’s map was pretty darn accurate. Cook also explored the West Coast of North America, Hawaii and the South Pacific.
After lunch we tackle the Cedar Cove Trail. This hike is all about the views at the end.

Back at the trailhead, Pat checks out the halibut fishing action at the nearby dock.

Then it is back to Corner Brook for sushi at Newfound Sushi. And look at the view.

This is the best sushi ever. Yum!
