We are keeping up on Hurricane Lee.
Next stop is two nights in a hotel in Saint John. SportsNet and Davis Cup tennis. I get caught up on ๐จ๐ฆ vs ๐ฎ๐น and then ๐จ๐ฆ vs ๐ธ๐ช. 6-0 for ๐จ๐ฆ after two ties. ๐๐ป ๐๐ป
Roll in to Saint John and find a laundromat – heaven! We launder everything – including sleeping bags. Professional fast equipment makes short work of the chore.
We have dinner downtown at Italian by Night. This will be the only opportunity to walk around downtown.

Overnight a recycling operation (crushed cars and the like) catches on fire and the wind blows the smoke over downtown Saint John. (Between the fog and the smoke it is quite a scene.). The sirens wake me up around 1 am and then I smell burning rubber. I call the front desk and am reassured the hotel is not on fire.
The following day we stay away from the smoke. We check out the reversing falls where the Saint John River meets The Bay of Fundy (by the Irving Pulp Mill).

Nearby is the Carleton Martello Tower. This is a national historic site and a great place to take a photo of the fire port-side.

To be honest we decide to hang out at the hotel and not play tourist for the rest of the day.
Our next stop is to visit friends Charlie and Shein near Fredericton. And we are checking weather reports regularly as Hurricane Lee travels towards the Bay of Fundy.
