Fredericton

The calm before the storm.

We wake up to beautiful blue skies and sunshine.

The recycling plant fire is no longer belching smoke into the air.

Hurricane Lee is happening – tomorrow.

….

We drive up to Fredericton and stop at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

The gallery is exceptional. The building is stunning and modern. The gallery rooms are named after New Brunswicks’ who’s who. Irvings and McCains dominate.

The Canadian collection is terrific. Mi’kmaw, English and French Canadian Atlantic artists are well represented.

There are current exhibitions. I love Edward Burtynsky’s work and he has a wonderful exhibition here.

And there is a permanent collection of some Salvador Dali paintings.

Afterward we walked a few blocks over to the Garrison. The Roots Festival is underway. We check out the food trucks and grab lunch.

And we head west to Bear Island to visit Charlie and Shein.
