Maritimes – Farewell

Today is October 1st. We have spent the past 100 days in the Maritimes.

We are often asked if we plan to drive home through the US. And you know, we weren’t really sure until a few weeks ago. The answer is No. We know where the EV chargers are if we retrace our steps. It isn’t a complete retrace but we want to keep it as simple as possible.

Yesterday we travelled from Cottage Cove to Woodstock NB. We’ll be in Old Quebec City by late afternoon.

Today’s highlights include:

Woodstock

Woodstock is the oldest town in New Brunswick. Our Airbnb is a converted Anglican rectory.

❤️ retro sink and cabinets

We drive north through western NB.

Hartland Covered Bridge

First stop is at the longest covered bridge in the world.

A few minutes after taking these photos, I realize I left our laptop at the Airbnb. So we drive back to Woodstock. I blame it on caffeine withdrawal. We haven’t had coffee yet. Pat gives me the day off 😉

We pass through McCain land – Florenceville NB. Definitely potato country.

Brunch in Perth-Andover

878 Waterfront Bistro is perfect for brunch (and coffee). We have a view of the St John River. Folks are enjoying the sunny Sunday – walking, boating and fishing.

Pat has duck confit eggs benedict and I have lobster eggs benedict. The juice is freshly squeezed, preserves are homemade and the coffee is wonderful.

The fall colours are lovely.

Grand Falls

Our last stop in New Brunswick is Grand Falls. The sun is out and it is shorts and t-shirt weather. Glorious.

We meet a Fredericton couple with three UNB exchange students from Europe in tow. They are all going to zip line over the falls. We really enjoy chatting with the group. One of the topics is the under promotion of tourism in NB. NB pulls their weight and more for prominent family businesses. Tourism is not their focus.

Rivière-du-Loup

Yay – we are back in the land of fast EV charging. These chargers are new and they are fast. We don’t have time to finish a beer before the car is charged. Pat moves the car mid meal.

the station has 500 kW available across three charging stations (6 plugs): no other car is charging so 300 kW max is available to our plug (our vehicle max is 240 kwh)
