Alberta Time

The rest of our time in Calgary focussed on visiting family. Our Day 8 included the following:

Bill – the family audiophile- introducing us to a fabulous musician Hugh Masekala – specifically the song Stemula (The Coal Train). Played on Bill’s system, this song takes you to the Johannesburg mines. Please give Hugh Masekala a listen.

Dropping in at Kassia’s art show. Kassia works in film in Calgary and is studying fine arts. We had a great visit at The Barn with Kassia, Matt, Heather and Bill. Wrapping up with an impromptu frisbee session in the park.

While we were planning a stop by The Unicorn to say a quick ‘hi’ to Colton – we ran out of time – NEXT TIME!

Connecting with Pat’s Aunt Sheila and Uncle Neil over a cup of tea. Sheila keeps up with the PEI McGuire’s so we have a bit more background on that side of the family. Pat’s cousin Paul was visiting from Vancouver Island – that was a special surprise.

Very early on Day 9, Pat’s cousin Katie sprang for coffee. We met up with Katie at 7am and just after we took this photo with Heather and Bill.

And then we were off to Medicine Hat.

It is as we travel East from Calgary that our adventure really starts. Neither Pat or I have travelled these highways and explored the Prairies. More about that in the next post.
