Iβm writing this from just outside Ottawa so about four posts behind (it is Day 16). We drove a stretch of 5 long days arriving in Pakenham (just west of Ottawa) on Saturday evening. Iβll make a few posts today to get caught up.
Those of you that are interested in the βhowβ of crossing Canada in an EV – please stay tuned for a post that Pat will put up in the next day or so. So many you have asked about this aspect and we have many learnings over the last week. (For Lionel) we have yet to run out of battery before reaching a charging station. π. But the trip is still early! We have become very diligent in our planning – because – spoiler alert – we averted disaster twice last week.
The highlights crossing the prairies include:
Medicine Hat because the charger at the PetroCan was possibly the best experience ever. And we chatted with a retired CP engineer who was full of stories about the run through Field and Banff. And we had a wonderful meal at the Medicine Hat Brewing Company. Their salads, chicken wings and beer were amazing.

Maple Creek because we chatted with a fellow IONIC5 owner who pulled into the charging station just to chat with us. This is Cypress Hills country – very beautiful.
A beautiful prairie sunset out at the Regina airport.

We started out on Wednesday and our first charging stop at Whitewood Saskatchewan provided an opportunity to stretch our legs walking to the grain elevator. This turned out to be our only stop where we were nearby that quintessential Canadian prairie image.

The rest of the day we booted it through Manitoba – with no photos taken by either of us π€·ββοΈ .
We ended the day in Kenora. Have to say Lake of the Woods is beautiful. In Kenora we pitched our tent for the first time and had a wonderful sleep.
