We stopped in Kingston for a quick visit with Mike and Nancy. Mike is my uncle, but we’re close enough in age that we’re really more like cousins. It was great catching up, getting to know Nancy a bit better, and learning what their son Liam is up to, not to mention having some of Nancy’s resaurant-quality meals and getting to know the town of Kingston.
Mike is a former Canadian light heavyweight kickboxing champion and a fitness fanatic, so it was just bad luck that he had injured his back stretching. Otherwise, we would have been able to join him for a game of golf. Golfing is one of his current passions.

So instead of golf, we went for a nice driving tour of Kingston and, the following day, we went for a long waterfront walk from nearby Lake Ontario Park to downtown Kingston for lunch. There is so much history here – very different from what we’re used to in Vancouver.

It was also nice just hanging out at Mike and Nancy’s place near Collins Bay. We talked alot about kids – Liam is doing fantastic, living in Toronto and working for Johnson Controls. Nancy is happy to be near her parents, who live in Montreal. Mike is staying active – hiking, walking and, as mentioned, playing a ton of golf. They are enjoying life.

… and we almost forgot Aspen. I’m pretty sure she was heartbroken when we left. 🙂
