We dodged another weather bullet at Fundy National Park. We got set up in dry weather and were well asleep when the storm hit. Here’s the campsite road the following morning.

The town of Alma is just outside the park. It wins for best church.

Amen.
Alma is located on Upper Salmon River delta. Here are views of the river and beach.

Our stay was pretty short, and the weather wasn’t the best, but we had time for a short hike and a game of golf.
Here are photos from the Point Wolfe Beach hike, including a few of the covered bridge on the way to the trailhead.

After the hike we went out to Hopewell Rocks to see them at high tide. The following day we returned to Hopewell to see it at low tide before returning to Fundy for a game of holf at the 9-holes in the part. Hopewell will be covered in a separate post.
The course at Fundy was one of Stanley Thompson’s latest designs, opening in 1948. This is about 10 years after Capilano was opened. Anyone who has played Cap, Banff, or any of his other courses will recognize his touch.
The first tee is pretty dramatic – vintage Thompson.

Here is a gallery of course photos. Green fees are about $20 plus tax, the best golf value I’ve ever experienced.

After golf, we wanted to pack up most of camp for a quick getaway the following day – we had a morning tour booked at Joggins. But we also wanted to try the famous chowder at the Octopus’ Garden restaurant in Alma.

Easy choice, which meant that packing up was done in the dark.

And we had time the following morning for some pictures before moving on to Joggins.
