I think it’s OK for this to be the first post for our southeast Asia trip. Caffeine is important when you’re recovering from jet lag. And the 16 hour flight from YVR to Bangkok, followed by a 6 hour layover in the airport, and then another flight to Vientiane, was pretty rough.
We honestly thought that finding decent coffee would be difficult on this trip. It may have been from memories of Vietnamese restaurant coffee in Canada. And maybe recollections of sketchy Balinese coffee from 14 years ago was part of it. But wow, were we wrong.

Arabica coffee was introduced to Laos by French colonialists. I’m not sure if it’s a recent thing, but coffee culture is now a very big deal here. Great coffee is everywhere.
The cappuccino we had at Cafe&Crafts in Vientiane was just fantastic. And the coffee in Luang Prabang, especially at LuLaLao Coffee, has been amazing. What an awesome surprise!
